Ikôn WWAN variants now available with Assisted GPS
Assisted GPS offers marked improvements in TTFF (time to first fixed) on pinpointing Ikôn’s location. Regular GPS may take anywhere from one to ten minutes before acquiring a signal, depending on location, amount of interference and topography/horizon information. A-GPS reduces Time To First Fix (TTFF) and increases the likelihood of finding and keeping a fix in poor coverage areas such as indoor sites. A-GPS downloads satellite ephemeris (orbital) data to the Ikôn periodically through either a WLAN or WWAN connection. The downloaded data is used by the GPS module to speed the process of acquiring a fix.
Generally A-GPS offers the following benefits:
v Faster location acquisition
v Location acquisition in ‘borderline’ coverage areas or in non-optimal environmental settings
